FACA Undergraduate Programmes


Overview

The Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA) was established in 1994 based on the university’s mission of becoming an internationally recognized institution of higher learning and the main choice among students and academicians via excellence in teaching, research and scholarship. In order to fulfill this mission FACA recognises the importance of technology and management skills in exploring creativity, through programs such as Fine Arts, Design Technology, Arts Management, Music and Cinematography towards the degree of Bachelor of Applied and Creative Arts. The faculty aims to produce graduates who can promote professional artistic growth in a dynamic and diverse work environment. Towards equipping students with fundamental skills and discipline to create and to explore creative ideas, it is the faculty’s objective to integrate the use of technology to enhance curriculum integration based on the concept of amalgamated education and cross disciplines.

Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours (Music)

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

  • 1. Knowledgeable and technically competent in music discipline in-line with the industry requirement [Knowledge,Technical, LL].
  • 2. Effective in communication and demonstrate good leadership quality in an organization [CS, CT, TS, EM, LS].
  • 3. Capable to work on musical matters innovatively, creatively and ethically through sustainable approach [CT, LL, EM].
  • 4. Able to demonstrate entrepreneurship skills and recognize the need of life long learning for successful career advancement [LL, ES].
Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours (Fine Arts)

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

  • 1. Knowledgeable and technically competent in producing contemporary artwork in-line with the current development [Knowledge, Technical, CS, CT, TS, LL, EM].
  • 2. Effective in communication and demonstrate good leadership quality in an organization [Knowledge, CS, TS, EM, LS].
  • 3. Capable to solve and formulate solutions to issues related to visual art industry innovatively and ethically [Knowledge, Technical, CT, EM].
  • 4. Able to demonstrate entrepreneurship skills and recognize the need of lifelong learning for successful career advancement [Knowledge, LL, ES].
  • 5. A graduate with positive attitudes and ethics necessary in fulfilling his/her responsibilities towards society and industry [Knowledge, EM, LS].
Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours (Cinematography)

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

  • 1. be knowledgeable and technically competent in filmmaking in-line with the industry requirements [Knowledge, Technical, LL].
  • 2. be effective in communication and demonstrate good leadership quality in an organization [CS, TS, LS].
  • 3. be capable to solve and formulate solutions to issues related to film industry innovatively and ethically [CT, EM].
  • 4. be competent and smart to look for opportunities to engage in entrepreneurship as well as able to recognize the importance of lifelong learning for successful career advancement [ES].
  • 5. Possess positive attitudes and ethics necessary in fulfilling his/her responsibilities towards society and industry [EM, LS].
Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours (Arts Management)

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

  • 1. knowledgeable and technically competent in the Arts Management discipline, in line with requirements in the industry. [Knowledge, Technical].
  • 2. effective in communication and demonstrate good leadership skills [CS, TS, LS].
  • 3. capable of solving management problems innovatively, creatively and ethically [CT, EM].
  • 4. able to demonstrate entrepreneurship skills and recognize the need for life-long learning [LL, ES].
Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours (Design Technology)

Programme Educational Objectives

The programme shall produce graduates who are:

  • 1. Practice the knowledge and technical skill in Design Technology discipline in-line with the industry needs.,
  • 2. Apprehend the significance impact of design in society, cultural issues and environmental contexts and adhere to professional ethics for the need of sustainable development.,
  • 3. Communicate and function effectively as leader or team members in solving design problems by utilizing contextual knowledge of design fundamentals, techniques, resources and tools creatively., and
  • 4. Enrich entrepreneurship skills and inculcate lifelong learning for successful career advancement.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)

Upon graduating from this program, the students are able to:
