Dr Musdi Shanat is an Associate professor at the Design Technology Program in the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). He started his career from October 1998 as a tutor, and continued Master degree in the Computer Science and Multimedia at Aizu University, Japan from 2000 until 2002.  He completed his Doctoral studies in the University of Western Australia, Australia in September 2014.

Musdi Shanat is an academician that deeply committed in teaching especially in the area of Industrial Design. His passion in Industrial design research can be seen through his successful ongoing project entitled ‘Rethinking design: practical element and aesthetic values of furniture design. This project is awarded by KURSI PUSAKA’s chair which value of RM123,780.00.  His passion in research activities can be seen through his achievement by winning a lot of notable awards including the Gold Medal for the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIFF) and UNIMAS Innovation and Technology Exposition in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He is also published many International Journals, chapter in the books as well as in the popular medias.

His never-ending commitment in teaching and learning, and research activities related to creative art and design reward him with prestigious award from the university known as Anugerah Seni dan Kreativiti in 2016. Currently, he is a Dean of the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts and Head of Chair for PETRONAS P.Ramlee’s research chair.
